The campaign has been annually co-organized by the Vietnam Youth Alliance Association, the National Volunteer Center and Vietnam Television’s News Center VTV24 since 2016, launched in 28 coastal provinces and cities.

This year’s campaign under theme “Kindness to the ocean” will last until August 31 with sea clean-up activities to raise public awareness and actions about the risks of climate change, call for the maritime environment protection, kick off welfare programs, improve people’s living quality and encourage fishermen having difficult life to continue going fishing and economic development.

Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Alliance Association Nguyen Kim Quy said that this year’s campaign would expect to clean 400 coastal sites across 28 provinces and cities with participation of 100,000 people, clubs and volunteer groups in localities.

On this occasion, 280 specialized nets for collecting floating garbage on sea were offered to 28 coastal localities.

After the launching ceremony, 2,000 young people, students, local people and armed forces of Quang Ngai province jointly collected garbage at the Sa Ky Port.
