Shares of 305 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange strengthened 0.76 per cent, or 3.56 points, to close at 473.77 points with 195 gainers, 72 losers, and 43 stocks remaining unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse declined by 10.5 per cent in volume, and nearly 25.5 per cent in value over the previous trading session as more than 86.17 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.3 trillion.

Tay Bac Minerals Investment Joint Stock Company (KTB) was the most active share in volume with 4.04 million shares changing hands.

Sacom Development & Investment Corporation (SAM) was the runner-up with 3.05 million shares.

Becamex Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company (IJC) came in third with 2.99 million shares traded.

Big winners on the city bourse today included Transport Engineering Construction & Business Investment Joint Stock Company 584 (NTB), Vietnam Golf Tourism Joint Stock Company (VNG), Petrolimex Gas Joint Stock Company (PGC), Thong Nhat Rubber Joint Stock Company (TNC), and Vietnam Container Shipping Joint Stock Company (VSC). They all rocketed 5 per cent to close at VND6,300, VND6,300, VND10,500, VND16,800, and VND35,700 respectively.

South Logistics Joint Stock Company (STG) extended its losing run to five consecutive trading sessions, closing down 4.87 per cent to VND21,500.

Viet An Joint Stock Company (AVF) and Seaprodex Refrigeration Industry Corporation (SRF) both contracted 4.71 per cent to close at VND16,200, and VND26,300 respectively.

Chang Yih Ceramic Joint Stock Company (CYC) sank 4.55 per cent to close at VND2,100.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – surged 3.1 points, or 0.58 per cent, to end at 541.2. Among its 30 members, 23 stocks rallied, 5 dropped and 2 closed unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north jumped 1.42 per cent, or 1.12 points, to close at 79.86 points with 226 winners, 62 losers, and 56 stocks treading water. Around 67.56 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND705.98 billion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares shed 0.68 per cent, or 0.24 points, to close at 35.07 points. A total of 363,273 shares changed hands at VND2.74 billion.
