VN-Index surpasses 450 mark

The shares of 265 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange extended it rising trend for the second day to finish in green on October 26 thanked to support from penny-chip stocks.

The Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rallied 1.45 percent, or 6.51 points, to 455.12 points.

Trading volume slightly improved over the previous session. Around 34.95 million shares changed hands at a value of VND830 billion, an increase of 20 percent in volume and 10 percent in value.

Of the index, 212 stocks increased, 28 slipped, while 30 were unchanged.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) won the position of active share by volume with 1.53 million shares changing hands.

It was followed by Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) with 1.23 million shares.

Investment and Trading of Real Estate Joint Stock Company (ITC) tagged along with 1.12 million shares traded.

Winners on the city bourse included Thu Duc Housing Development Corporation (TDH), Urban Development and Construction Corporation (UDC), (MAFPF1), My Chau Printing & Packaging Holding Company (MCP), and Hang Xanh Motors Service Joint Stock Company (HAX). They all jumped the daily maximum allowed limit of 5 percent.

NBB Investment Corporation (NBB) slashed 5 percent to trade at VND76,000.

Cuu Long Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Corporation (DCL) declined for second day, deleting 4.91 percent to VND38,700.

Cotec Investment and Land-house Development Joint Stock Company (CLG) erased 4.8 percent to VND37,700.

Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index added up 3.14 points, or 2.81 percent, to close at 114.91. Trading volume surged by 1.5 times over the previous day as 33.7 million shares worth VND664.1 billion changed hands.

The UPCoM-Index of the market of unlisted shares slightly rose 0.11 points to 42.93 points. Trading volume improved as more than 510,000 shares traded, approximately VND6.7 billion.
