Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index declined for five consecutive trading sessions on October 4 as investors hesitated on speculation that the losing trend would prolong.
The measure of 296 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange slipped 0.98 percent, or 3.94 points, to close at 418.18 points.
Among the benchmark members, there were 68 advancers, 160 decliners, while 73 stocks remained unchanged.
Trading volume on the city bourse lightly dropped over the previous day as 28.43 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND483 billion, up 23 percent.
Post & Telecommunications Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (PTC) won the spot of most active share by volume with 1.41 million shares changing hands.
It was followed by Pha Lai Thermal Power Joint Stock Company (PPC) with 1.31 million shares.
Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) tagged along with 1.15 million shares traded.
Binh Duong Mineral & Construction Joint Stock Company (KSB) plunged 7.23 percent to close at VND46,200.
Basa Joint Stock Company (BAS) reversed previous gain, cutting 5.26 percent to VND1,800.
Thien Nam Trading Import Export Joint Stock Company (TNA) gave up 4.96 percent to VND23,000.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) resurrected 7.14 percent to close at VND1,500.
Transforwarding Warehousing Corporation Ho Chi Minh City (TMS) recovered 4.97 percent to VND19,000.
Post & Telecommunications Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (PTC) advanced for eleven consecutive trading sessions, escalating 4.94 percent to VND17,000.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north regained 0.11 percent, or 0.08 points, to finish at 70.46 points. Around 32.78 million shares changed hands at a value of VND323.38 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares stood at 30.92 points at 1:36 pm local time with a total of 157,800 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.16 billion.
