VN continues effort for peace process on Korean peninsula: FM spokesperson

Answering questions of international reporters yesterday, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Le Thi Thu Hang said that Vietnam’s consistent standpoint is to non-stop support the peace maintenance and denuclearization in the Korean Peninsula.

The press brief was held after the no breakthrough end of the second summit between the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

During past two days, Vietnam and the international community closely followed the important summit in capital city of Hanoi. 

US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un affirmed that the meeting was considered as an important advance towards dialogue process between both sides. 

Through dialogues at the DPRK- USA summit, the senior leaders made their positive efforts to build and exchange major issues relating to peace, denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. 

Ms. Hang added that Vietnam made a great preparation to ensure security as well as absolute safety for the event. Position, role and preparation of the host country were appreciated by the US, DPRK leaders and the international community. 

The international community desired that the parties would continue to maintain dialogues to solve problems on the Korean peninsula as well as promote relations between the United States and DPRK, play an important  role in building peace, coordinate to promote the peace process on the Korean peninsula, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang said.
