According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnamese companies have great opportunity to promote exports in the Kenyan market as most Vietnamese products are saleable and accepted there.
The number of goods exported to Kenya has gradually increased to 27 main commodities. In the first six months of this year, Vietnam’s export turnover to Kenya hit US$24.9 million. Among commodities exported to Kenya, rice was leading, accounting for 60 percent of total exports, followed by machinery, equipment, computers, and electric products. Building materials and seafood also has potential to increase in this market.
With a favorable geographic location, Kenya can also play as hub for Vietnam to transfer Vietnamese products to countries in East Africa.
