Major Vietnamese technology corporations like Viettel, VNPT, FPT Group have already spent much of their budget on researching and manufacturing IoT equipment as well as solutions.
In June 2018, FPT Group cooperated with Dien Quang Lamp Joint Stock Company to develop smart lighting systems and electric devices based on the IoT technology. Accordingly, FPT Group would write an app to control these products on a smart device while helping its partner to develop new solutions via a library on a cloud platform.
Recently, VNPT Technology (a member of VNPT Group) has successfully introduced an environmental monitoring system called eGreen Solution also based on IoT. This solution can greatly boost the task of checking, monitoring, and managing various data on the environment. At the moment, VNPT Technology is ready to offer monitoring systems for water quality or air quality in real time for all in need.
VNPT Technology has also built its own IoT foundation to develop an IoT ecosystem and developed related applications based on Smart Connected Platform (SCP). It can then provide software on smart traffic, smart tourism, or smart agriculture, which are being widely used by different provinces nationwide, creating a close network among them.
Similarly, Viettel is piloting certain applications based on IoT such as smart parking, air monitoring, location tracking, metering devices. From these, Viettel hopes to formally develop an ecosystem of IoT services in the near future. At present, Ho Chi Minh City is running Viettel’s application My Parking.
VinSmart, a member of Vingroup, launched a series of devices which can connect to users’ smart phones onto the market, or Bkav has its SmartHome solution to link all smart devices in a house via the Internet so that users can easily turn them on and off.
Being well aware of the global IoT market, at the beginning of 2019, the Ministry of Information and Communications allowed Viettel Group to pilot the 5G technology in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Following its footstep will be VNPT and MobiFone. These are the active preparation on infrastructure for IoT in Vietnam.
The above IoT products and solutions, along with this piloting program, are supposed to make IoT more popular among the general public while being able to boost the revenues of technology companies. What is more, IoT-related applications are being actively researched and developed, using the automation technology, in hope of making IoT increasingly well-known in Vietnam
