

Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group yesterday organized the announcement ceremony of 5G technology launch, along with Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure, in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). This milestone turns the city into the first area in Vietnam to have full 5G coverage and IoT implementation on a large scale.
The contest ‘AIoT & Smart Cities 2019’, themed ‘Smarter for Better Life’ has formally kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).
Cisco System, an American multinational technology conglomerate, predicts that in 2020 there will be 50 billion devices connected with one another via the Internet, namely Internet of Things (IoT). In Vietnam, IoT products have gradually become familiar with the public thanks to the massive investment of domestic technology enterprises.
The technology of Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) has been introduced to Vietnam, yet unable to attract much interest from related businesses. The turning point came when Viettel announced its successful implementation of the technology in the recent Mobile World Congress 2019 (MWC 2019), themed ‘Intelligent Connectivity’ and held in Spain. Now many practical applications of NB-IoT are more sought-after.
The competition IoT Startup 2018 has just been launched by Saigon Hi-tech Park Incubation Center, a member of Saigon Hi-tech Park. The aim of this year’s competition is to create a smart city on an IoT foundation.
