According to the agreements, Jiangsu and Vietnam will cooperate in such fields as industry, trade, investment, finance, and tourism.

The PM briefed the forum on business opportunities for foreign investors in Vietnam and called on Chinese businesses to invest in Vietnam. He pledged that the Vietnamese government would create all possible favorable conditions for Chinese investors.

Mr. Dung stressed that China is Vietnam's leading trading and investment partner. By March, China had more than 700 projects operational in Vietnam with a total registered capital of nearly US$3 billion, not counting Hong Kong and Macau, he said.

The two-way trade between Vietnam and China has annually grown by 30 percent over the past 10 years, he said, adding that last year, despite impacts of the global economic crisis, the bilateral trade reached over US$21 billion, up nearly six percent from 2008.

In the first quarter of this year, the Vietnam-China trade increased by 40 percent from a year earlier, he said.

The trade between Vietnam and Jiangsu has also developed rapidly, with an annual growth of 30 percent in the last four years, he added.

The forum, joined by representatives of about 500 businesses from both countries, was jointly held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Jiangsu Province’s Trade Department and Committee for International Trade Promotion.
