Upstream floodwater rises again in Mekong Delta

The floodwater levels upstream the Mekong River in southern Vietnam increased again on Saturday, according to local reports.

The floodwater levels upstream the Mekong River in southern Vietnam increased again on Saturday, according to local reports.

The water level in Tan Chau Oct. 8 is 4.76 meters, rising by 4 cm. The water level in Chau Doc is 4.23 m.

The water level in Tan Chau is forecast at 4.80 m by Oct. 12.

Facing rising floodwaters again, Dong Thap Province’s storm and flood preparedness committee has asked localities to continue to fortify dykes to protect rice fields, other crops and residents.

The province has so far reported six child deaths. It has also found out a mature person and a child dead but their origins have not been identified.
