UNESCO recognizes Hanoi as creative city

The Department of Culture and Sport of Ha Noi said that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) had voted and recognized the capital city of Vietnam as a creative city along with other 66 cities in the world.

Currently, the creative cities network had a total of 246 cities from all regions of the world.

The creative cities network was founded by UNESCO in 2004 to promote international cooperation among the cities based on cultural resources and creativity resources for the durable development. 

Earlier, Hanoi had chosen the field of design to submit dossiers to join UNESCO creative cities network.
