Undersea fibre optic cable broken

FPT Telecom announced that the Asia America Gateway (AAG) submarine communication cable link connecting South-East Asia with the US was broken in the Vung Tau area on March 8.

FPT Telecom announced that the Asia America Gateway (AAG) submarine communication cable link connecting South-East Asia with the US was broken in the Vung Tau area on March 8.

FPT Telecom, a subsidiary of FPT Corporation, said the incident has affected all telecom providers in the area. Internet services such as emailing etc. have been disrupted. However, domestic transactions via internet were not affected.

FPT telecom added more international fibre-optic cables to help internet users. However, international information transactions have not yet been stabilized. 

The AAG undersea cable project stretches nearly 20,000 kilometres, starting from Malaysia all the way through to America.

The cable with bandwidth of 240 Gbps, extends 314 kilometres within Vietnam and joining on land at the Vung Tau area.
