Two tropical low pressures operating offshore

Currently, two tropical low pressures are strongly operating offshore and heading towards west- northwest and west of the Philippines at speed of 15- 25 kilometers per hour, reported the Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center of Vietnam and Japan on October 13.

In mainland of Vietnam, upstream water level on Red River system is unexpectedly raising, warning at level 2 because of huge discharge of water from upstream reservoirs in China.

In next two days, the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region is predicted to be sunny daytime and rain at night. The highest temperature in city will reach at 25- 33 degrees Celsius.

In the related weather news, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control in collaboration with the United Nations Organization (UNO) in Vietnam organized a ceremony to mark International Day for Disaster Reduction in Hanoi on October 13

The ceremony aims to share lessons and experiences in coping with natural disaster.

According to report of United Nations Organization, Viet Nam is one of ten countries in the world that are seriously affected by natural disaster like storm, landslide, flash flood, earthquake and others.

Since 1970s, an average of 500 Vietnamese people had been killed each year by natural disasters, estimated damage at over 1, 5 percents for Gross Domestic Product (GDP). New report of Vietnam showed that Vietnam is going to damage at 3- 5 percent of GDP by 2030 because of the effect of natural disaster.
