Tens of houses have collapsed or were left roofless from the tropical low pressure system and strong southwesterly winds that caused heavy rain over the last five days in the southernmost province of Ca Mau.
One fisherman was also reported missing and several streets, shrimp ponds and fruit orchards were under floodwaters in the province, said Mr. To Quoc Nam, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention.
According to Mr. Nam, torrential rains accompanied with strong winds collapsed and blew roofs off at least 16 houses in Cai Nuoc District from July 18-21.
Local authorities have visited and given financial assistance to the affected families in the worst hit districts including Thoi Binh, Cai Nuoc, Tran Van Thoi, Ngoc Hien and Ca Mau City.
