Mr. Le Minh Tuan, head of Train SE1, said that the railway industry focused on repairing the incident taking place at 2 p.m. when the train was on its way to enter Long Song station, Phong Phu commune, Tuy Phong district in the province.
On the same day, Saigon Railway Transport Company said that the accident postponed departure time of ten trains causing huge passenger congestion at Saigon station. In addition, passengers at the station said that they had to depart behind schedule by 5-6 hours.
Vietnam Railway Corporation said that after the derailment occurred, a crane truck from Song Than station in Binh Duong province and another from Nha Trang city arrived at the scene for rescue operation.
The railway industry must mobilize buses to transport about 3,500 passengers across the derailment spot. According to plan, about 17-22 trains roll from Saigon station to carry 15,000-17,000 people home for Tet celebration a day.
The North South railway was officially reconnected at 3:45 p.m. on January 27 after ten hours of interruption because of the accident.
