The Ministry of Industry and Trade yesterday sent a document to the Department of Market Management saying that several days ago the media released the information of a Khaisilk’s shop in Hanoi to sell a product with both a ‘Made in China’ label and a ‘Made in Vietnam’ one.
Accordingly, Minister Tran Tuan Anh ordered the Department and the Vietnam Competition Authority to carry out probe to clarify the information.
The two agencies must have penalties on Khaisilk company if they discovered violation relating to fake products
The Department of Market Management should report to the Minister before October 28.
Several dáy ago a businessman placed an order of 60 Vietnamese silk scarves as gifts for his partners at the Khaisilk Hanoi Main Store on Hang Gai Street in Hoan Kiem District. The products cost VND644,000 ($28) each.
However, when the products were delivered, one of sixty scarves was found bearing both a ‘Made in China’ label and a ‘Made in Vietnam’ one.
He said that the remaining 59 scarves, the ‘Made-in-China’ label was carelessly cut off and a ‘Made-in-Vietnam’ label was added.
The businessman has filed a complaint to the shop whose manager asserted that all products in the shop were made in Vietnam.
When it comes to the cut-off label, the manager said that because the shop lacked one of scarves in the 60-scarf order so warehouse employees mistakenly took one scarf that was still on the sewing machine, pending delivery to another customer in Hong Kong ( China).
Yet, later, the owner of Khaisilk Hoang Khai confessed that half of his scarf merchandise is sourced from China. He sent his apology to all customers.
