Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, Head of the National Steering Committee for Anti-smuggling, Counterfeit Goods and Trade Fraud (the National Steering Committee 389) asked to fight counterfeit and smuggled commodities.
Regarding the case of about 100 containers of cashew nuts exporting to Italy showing signs of being scammed, on March 16, the Ministry of Industry and Trade informed that it had directed the Commercial Counselor in Italy to go directly to the ports of Genoa and Naples to work with port management units, shipping lines, banks, and local authorities, proposing to suspend delivery to have time to clarify the case.
The Government Office has sent a telegram No.1583/CD-VPCP to the ministers of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Public Security, Transport, and the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) conveying the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on exporting cashew nuts to the European market.
The Market Management Department of Ho Chi Minh City yesterday said that the agency has been strengthening the activities of fighting against smuggling and trade fraud in the last months of 2021 and the upcoming Tet holiday.
Yesterday, the National Steering Committee for Prevention and Fight against smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods (Steering Committee 389) said at a press brief that from the beginning of 2021 until now, despite the widespread Covid-19 epidemic, many cases of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods have been detected.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, for making use well of free trade agreements, in the first ten months of this year, export turnover of Vietnamese wood and wood products to the US posted strong growth compared to the same period last year with export value reaching US$4.2 billion, an increase of 34.5 percent.
Deputy chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen, who is head of Steering Board 389 in the city, yesterday said that the board will open lots of inspections over trading of key commodities with the focus on petrol, chemical and solvent in efforts to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit from now until Tet holiday.
