Chairman Phong expressed his pleasure at the good cooperation relations in multifaceted fields between Vietnam and Switzerland; and he hoped that the partner would have more and more effective contributions in promoting the negotiation process of signing the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
On this occasion, he also talked about the city’s socio-economic development and suggested Minister Guy Parmelin to pay more attentions and introduce Swiss financial and banking experts to cooperate and assist Ho Chi Minh City’s development process as a financial and service center of Vietnam in particular and the region in general.
HCMC also appreciated the partner in the fields of creative development and environmental improvement; therefore, the city authority desired to receive cooperation and sharing from Swiss businesses, experts and scientists in this field, added Chairman Phong.
The city leader also believed that this visit would bring many new opportunities of cooperation between HCMC and Switzerland. Chairman Phong also pledged to create favorable business conditions for the Swiss investors.
Mr. Guy Parmelin appreciated great developmental processes and potentialities from Vietnam's young human resources. He informed that speeding up the negotiation process between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association was one of this visit’s goals in order to bring mutual benefits for the parties.
Challenges such as environmental pollution and urban transport of Ho Chi Minh City are those what many and worldwide countries like Switzerland have faced and solved. As this reason, Switzerland is willing to share experiences and cooperate with Ho Chi Minh City in solving these problems.
