About 30,000 students won't be admitted to public schools in the next school year.
Deputy director of the Department of Training and Education of HCMC, Nguyen Van Hieu said that the municipal educational sector will cut down the number of students entering state schools, towards reaching the 2020 target number of 60 percent.
If students can not get admission to public high schools, they will choose types of schools, such as vocational school, private school, continuing education centers and others, said Deputy director of the Department of Training and Education of HCMC, Nguyen Van Hieu.
The municipal Department of Training and Education on March 11 announced the 10th grade entrance exam for the upcoming school year will take place on June 2-3. Candidates will have to take tests on subjects, including mathematics, literature, and a foreign language.
The high schools for the gifted in HCM City will enroll 1,145 students in the 2019-2020 academic year. Le Hong Phong and Tran Dai Nghia schools for the gifted students plan to enroll 705 and 440 respectively.
Other schools also plan to enroll students to their selected classes, including Gia Dinh 210, Nguyen Thuong Hien 175, Mac Dinh Chi 210, Nguyen Huu Huan 175. Entrance exam subjects are mathematics, literature, foreign language and a specialized subject.
Students with disabilities and students who won prizes for excellence in national and international contests, technology and science contests, art and sport competitions will receive priority in admission.
The Department of Training and Education of Hanoi has also announced the 10th grade entrance exam day and topics. Candidates will participate in the exam on June 2-3 with subjects, including mathematics, literature, foreign language and history. The mathematics and literature tests last 120 minutes of each while the foreign language and history will be 60 minutes.
