Song Hau 1 thermal power plant invested 43trillion dong

Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and Lilama Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony for building Song Hau 1 thermal power plant project at Chau Thanh district in the southern province of Hau Giang on May 16.

Attending in the groundbreaking ceremony were Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, representative leaders of ministries, departments, provincial People’s Committee of Hau Giang province and the Mekong Delta provinces.

Song Hau 1 thermal power plant covers an area of 115 hectares, which was located in Hau Giang province's Chau Thanh district, invested by Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and EPC Main Contractor Lilama.

Song Hau 1 belongs to the Song Hau Electricity Centre, which had three plants with a total capacity of 5,200 MW.

With total investment capital of VND 43 trillion, Song Hau 1 plant will operate 1,200 M capacity (2x600MW), including two boilers with the best modern technology.

After completing in 2019, Song Hau 1 thermal power plant will supply around VND 7, 8 billion kWh per year to the national grid system, contributing to not only ensure national energy security but also improve economic development in Mekong Delta region. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stressed that Song Hau 1 thermal power plant is invested with the large- scale, modern technology, playing an important role for economic development in Hau Giang province, the Mekong Delta region and nationwide.
