Six laws come into effect in 2013

Six laws which were approved at the 3rd session of the 13th National Assembly will come into effect in 2013, accordig to the State President’s Office.

They are the Law on Deposit Insurance, Law on Anti-money Laundering, Law on Tertiary Education, Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harm, Labor Code and Law on Trade Union.

The Labor Code includes 17 chapters and 1,242 articles, which promotes gender equality and increase maternity leave to six month long instead of the current four months.

The Law on Anti-money Laundering, with five chapters and 50 articles will help heighten the transparency of the national financial system by establishing a mechanism to collect and manage information related to unusual transactions.

The Law on Trade Union, comprising six chapters and 33 articles will further stipulate the responsibilities of the State, State agencies, businesses.

The Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harm, including five chapters and 35 articles, stipulates solutions to reduce the tobacco demand and control the supply of tobacco.

The Law on Deposit Insurance, with seven chapters and 39 articles aims to protect rights and legitimate benefits of depositors, maintain stability of credit organizations and guarantee healthy development of banking system.

The Law on Tertiary Education, including 12 chapters and 73 articles stipulates on organization, mission and rights of tertiary education establishments.

The Labor Code and the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harm will take effect since May 1, 2013 and the rest since January 1, 2013.
