At least 75 traffic projects are on hold at the Ministry of Transport due to lack of funds, a ministry source said Friday.
The projects face a deficit of over VND1.4 trillion (US$68 million) but the ministry has recently proposed to supplement VND6.8 trillion (US$409 million) from Government bonds to ensure that the more significant projects are completed this year, according to the source.
Minister Ho Nghia Dung has directed local authorities in the provinces of Cao Bang, Phu Tho, Ninh Binh and Ca Mau to step up progress on projects to broaden Highway 1A and Ho Chi Minh Highway.
