Securities decline as investors hesitate

The Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index lost ground on June 28 as investors traded with cautiousness amid the cash flow on the market became exhausted.

The gauge of 286 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange gave up 0.45 percent, or 1.94 points, to close at 432.31 points.

Among the benchmark members, 74 advanced, 135 fell, while 82 remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse dropped by 18 percent in volume, and 68 percent in value over the previous trading session as 21 million shares changed hands at a value of VND336 billion.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, topped the list of most active shares in volume with 1.24 million shares changing hands.

Pha Lai Thermal Power Joint Stock Company (PPC) followed with 831,180 shares traded.

HCM City-based Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) came in third with 667,010 shares.

Hau Giang Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (DHG) plummeted 56.3 percent to close at VND55,500.

Ca Mau Frozen Seafood Processing Import Export Corporation (CMX), Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC), and Saigon Beverages Join Stock Company (TRI) collapsed 5 percent to VND7,600, VND24,700, and VND3,800 respectively.

Ha Do Group Joint Stock Company (HDG), and Binh Duong Mineral & Construction Joint Stock Company (KSB) both crashed 4.95 percent to VND26,900, and VND44,200 respectively.

Descon Construction Corporation (DCC), Pha Lai Thermal Power Joint Stock Company (PPC), Saigon Fuel Joint Stock Company (SFC) jumped 5 percent to VND16,800, VND8,400, and VND23,100 respectively.

Tan Binh Import Export Joint Stock Corporation (TIX) rallied 4.62 percent to VND18,100.

Hang Xanh Motors Service Joint Stock Company (HAX) emerged 4.44 percent to VND9,400.

Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller in the north fell 1.22 percent, or 0.92 points, to finish at 74.71 points. Trading on the northern market improved by 44 percent in volume and 42 percent in value over the previous trading session as 35 million shares worth VND418.53 billion changed hands.

The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares sprang 0.4 points, or 1.23 percent, to 32.99 points. A total of 321,600 shares changed hands at a value of VND3.15 billion as of 3 pm local time.
