The percentage rate of students dropping out of schools has declined throughout the northern mountainous provinces during the 2010-2011 academic year compared to previous years.

This was disclosed at a ceremony hosted yesterday to review education campaigns in 15 provinces in the region. The dropout rate has fallen by 0.5 – 0.7 percent in Tuyen Quang, Son La and Dien Bien provinces.
Provincial departments of education and training used funds donated by benefactors, organizations and individuals to help disadvantaged students continue schooling.
All the provinces in the region carried out compulsory nursery education.
However, the dropout rate is still high in some provinces like Lai Chau with 1.78 percent, Bac Kan with 1.7 percent and Ha Giang with 1.1 percent.
