The program provided 30 scholarships, each worth VND2 million (US$79), to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The organizers also presented 30 schoolbags and 30 sets of notebooks and writing supplies to help the students prepare for the new school year.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Dang Quoc Toan, Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee’s Organization Commission and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association, said that the program was intended to share the students’ difficulties and provide them with better conditions and greater motivation to pursue their studies.
He encouraged the students to continue working hard, improving themselves, overcoming challenges and striving for good academic results.
Following the program, members of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association and other delegates visited the Duong Minh Chau Base Historical Site in Tay Ninh Province.
They offered incense, paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives and learned more about the history of the revolutionary base.
The Duong Minh Chau Base Historical Site is a national-level historical relic associated with the revolutionary struggle in Tay Ninh Province.
