The fundraising aims to take care of poor social welfare brackets and revolutionary contributors. The event received VND5.2 billion ($228,774) along with items from locals, benefactors and businesspersons for the gratitude fund.
Deputy Chairwoman of Cu Chi People’s Committee Pham Thi Thanh Hien said that the contribution is to build new houses and support needy revolutionary contributors in the wartime.
In the month, the District also launched a campaign to encourage party members, state employees and laborers to do good deed as a tribute to martyrs and these families serving in the country’s revolution.
Cu Chi District has 20,500 families serving in the country’s revolution and over 8,000 social welfare beneficiaries including 2,048 Vietnamese Heroic mothers, over 2,000 wounded soldiers.
Though the government takes heed to caring these families, 124 families of revolutionary contributors have economic condition in the poverty line.
