The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the central province of Quang Ngai organised a commemorative ceremony in memory of victims of the bloody massacre in My Lai village by US troops 44 years ago, during the Vietnam War.
Leaders of Quang Ngai Province, local residents and relatives of the victims burned incense at the Son My relic site in Tu Cung village in Tinh Khe Commune of Son Tinh District in the central province of Quang Ngai, in memory of the victims.
Morning of March 16, 1968, US troops opened fire on 504 unarmed innocent civilians, mostly women, children and elderly in My Lai village in Tinh Khe Commune in Quang Ngai Province.
Since that day, people in Quang Ngai Province mark March 16 as a day to remember the victims of this bloody massacre.
