The General Department of Administration on Social Order, under the Ministry of Public Security, held a two day seminar on May 24 and 25 themed ‘Increasing Effective Management of Weapon, Inflammable Materials and Tools in Fight against Criminals in Current Context’ in Pleiku City in the Highland Province of Gia Lai.

For years, the government has tried to draw attention to better management of weapons, inflammable materials and threatening tools.

The Ministry of Public Security had also encouraged residents across the country to hand over weapons to the police.

After one year of implementation of this program, around 5,801 guns of various kinds, 62 bombs, 604 grenades, over 28,000 bullets, nearly 4,800 kilograms of explosives and 4,200 tools have been handed over to police.

Through tips offs by residents, police caught hold of 472 people who were involved in producing, selling, transporting, restoring, and using illegal weapons, materials and various tools to commit crimes.
In the future, police will regulate management of weapons, materials and tools to raise people’s awareness.

Participating in the seminar were 130 representatives from police stations from the central and highland regions of Vietnam.
