PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Monday praised Fields Prize winner Professor Ngo Bao Chau at a meeting with the professor during his coming back to the country for the establishment of the Institute for Advanced Mathematics.

The PM said that the Vietnamese Government always pay attention on development of sciences in general and in mathematics in particular and considers sciences as basic foundation for the country’s industrialization and modernization.
As a result, success of Professor Ngo Bao Chau remarkably influences teaching and studying methods of Mathematics, leading to confidence in Vietnam’s achievement in Mathematics, he added.
The PM expressed the hope that the professor would coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training to early run the Institute of Advanced Mathematics and renew teaching and studying methods of Mathematics.
On the same day, educational minister Pham Vu Luan worked with Professor Ngo Bao Chau on the establishment of the institute, focusing on operating and organizing regulations.
The Minister said that the ministry would set up the institute as soon as possible.
It is scheduled that Professor Ngo Bao Chau will be appointed as the Scientific Director of the Institute of Advanced Mathematics.
