The museum will collect items of cultural heritage which reflect formation and development of the country’s press sector. Moreover, the museum must preserve, display them to people.
After campaigns to call for public contribution to the museum, many documents and items had been donated to the museum. Of them, written documents, newspaper and collections of manuscript published from 1945 to 1975 such as Truong Son newspaper of journalist
Luc Van Thao, and reproductions of old newspapers before and after the Doi Moi time ( Reform).
Additionally, the museum received precious items such as a printer in 1966 given by Lap Viet Printing Company in the northern province of Cao Bang and four bronze statues of reporters martyrs made by sculptor Tran Thanh Phong in Ho Chi Minh City City…
Within the scope of the opening ceremony, the organizer displayed 152 original old newspaper and magazines, two newspapers Gia Dinh made of cut-off articles and paste on the paper and Hoang Sa - Truong Sa (Paracel and Spratly archipelagos ) with 1,200 cut-off articles donated by collector Tran Thanh Phuong.
The museum was set up to honor reporters and emphasize the press role in building and protecting the country.
This is one of activities to mark the 152 anniversary of the national press (1865-2017).
