The Prime Minister has just approved the amended plan of the coal industry by 2020, looking towards 2030.
According to the plan, the industry will increase the capacity of 9 projects, build 41 new projects and renew equipment and technologies in order to improve mining output of open-air sites.
The industry targets to launch some pilot projects, to exploit the coal basin in the Red River Delta and at areas that have been explored, from 2021-2030.
The total coal reserve and resource of Vietnam were estimated to reach 48.88 billion tons as of December 31 last year including 2.26 billion tons of reserves and 46.62 billion tons of resources.
Of the total, about 3.05 billion tons comprising 1.22 billion tons of reverse and 1.83 billion tons of resource have been planned for exploitation.
