The expansion was kicked off in September , 2016 with a total investment capital of VND1 trillion ($43 million) by the ACV.
The project takes the total capacity from 2.65 to 4 million passengers a year and total site area from 24.325 m2 to 36.167 m2.
The airport is designed only served 685,000 passengers in 2013 but it has had to handle 3.4 million passengers in 2018
