Party central committee convenes 14th meeting

The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), 10th tenure, convened its 14th meeting on Dec. 13 to discuss draft documents and personnel plan to be submitted to the 11th Party Congress.

While opening the event in Hanoi on Dec. 13, Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh said that the meeting will discuss public comments and suggestions on draft documents to be submitted to the 11th Party Congress, and a report on the 10th tenure CPVCC leadership.

The meeting also expects to examine and approve nominations for the Central Committee in the 11th tenure.

The Party leader said that the draft documents have been publicised for comment and the Politburo have summed up the opinions for the CPVCC to consider at this meeting, so that those documents will be able to reflect the wisdom of all the Party and people.

Reviewing the Party leadership over the past tenure, the Politburo’s report says the CPVCC, the Politburo and the Secretariat have upheld the revolutionary spirit, responsibility and solidarity in leading the Party, the nation and the army to boost the renewal process, tap the strength of the national solidarity to soon put many important contents of the 10th Party Congress’s resolutions into practice.

The CPVCC, the Politburo and the Secretariat have made timely decisions, which effectively solved many complicated problems regarding socio-economic development, national defence and security, external relations and the building of Party organisation and political system, as well as led the country to overcome many difficulties, especially the impacts of the global financial crisis and economic slowdown, maintain macro economy stability, ensure social welfare and make progresses in the leadership and Party combative capacity.

The General Secretary asked members of the CPVCC to uphold the democratic spirit and collective sense in discussions in order to make sound decisions, reflecting the Party’s will and contributing to ensuring the success of the 11th Party Congress.

The 14th meeting is scheduled to last until Dec. 21.
