
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Dung, Deputy Chairman of Ly Son Marine Protected Area in the central province of Quang Ngai said the painters carried out this painting project within two weeks and An Binh commune has so far become the painted village with theme of environmental protection of the island and marine turtle conservation.
Each wall of painted house tells a story of sea turtle’s journey featuring a very deep meaning. Mr. Dung said more than past one year, sea turtles did not appear in the Ly Son Islands. Now, we need join hand to protect them. We hoped these painted houses would contribute promoting and raising local residents and visitors’ awareness in protecting marine turtles.
Ly Son Islands District has banned catching and purchasing of sea turtles; the Islands authority has its slogan “Releasing baby turtle back into the sea”.
