A nine-year-old boy in Hanoi may become the youngest person in Vietnam to set foot on the South Pole, scheduled in the next few days.
Pham Vu Thieu Quang, the fourth grader, left Hanoi Thursday for Buenos Aires, Argentina before moving to Ushuia, the southernmost city of Argentina.
He will board MS Fram - Hurtigruten cruise ship to the South Pole.
He is accompanied by his father.

It is expected that Quang will reach the South Pole on Feb 3.
Quang said he will shoot a short movie to introduce life in the Antarctica and his journey to other people, and that he has discussed the script with his classmates for several months before the trip.
The boy will also display photos of his journey at his school after returning home late February.
Quang said he wanted to call on people to pay more attention to climate change and environmental protection.
