The folk game which started 700 years ago in Vinh Khe village, An Duong District in the northern port city of Hai Phong takes place from the 7th of the first lunar month to tribute to the village founder and honor the traditional knightliness.
Other heritages recently recognized are the Water Splashing Festival of the Lao people at Nua Ngam commune in Dien Bien District, and the art of making patterns on the traditional costumes of Mongz Lenhs, a branch of the Mong ethnic minority group in Sa Long commune, Muong Cha district in the northern province of Dien Bien; Xang Khan (Kin chiêng boóc mạy) festival of Thai people in Que Phong, Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Con Cuong and Nghia Dan districts in Nghe An Province; Long Khe Temple Festival in An Khe commune in Thai Binh Province’s Quynh Phu District; Cau Ngu (Whale Worshiping) Festival in Ngu Loc commune in Thanh Hoa Province’s Hau Loc District; and Vien Khe – Dong Anh folk songs and dances in Dong Son district of Thanh Hoa Province.
The country has now seen 228 intangible cultural heritages which have been recognized as national intangible cultural heritages by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
