Last year, there were 59 cities and provinces providing social housing loans with loan outstanding balance of VND905 billion. Cities and provinces borrowed most were in the north and central of Vietnam. Ha Noi led the list with VND62 billion, Ha Tinh VND54 billion, Khanh Hoa VND52 billion, Quang Nam VND50 billion, Da Nang VND50 billion, Hung Yen VND33 billion, Thanh Hoa VND30 billion, Bac Giang VND30 billion, Bac Ninh VND26 billion, Thua Thien – Hue VND20 billion and Quang Binh VND20 billion.
The annual interest rates for preferential loans to rent and buy social housing or build, upgrade and repair houses under the Decree 100/2015 was 4.8 percent last year. This year’s annual interest rate has not been approved by the Prime Minister yet.
