The request was submitted in September 2018. At the moment, MobiFone is working with device providers to prepare for this pilot.
It is expected that necessary 5G equipment will arrive in Vietnam at the beginning of the second quarter this year for installation.
“If approved, we will pilot 5G technology via 20 transceiver stations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City as these are the major markets”, said MobiFone representative Nguyen Dang Nguyen.
MobiFone asked for the permission to use the commonly chosen wavebands of 3.5 - 3.8 GHz and 26GHz.
In addition, MobiFone is developing products and ecosystems for 5G to effectively exploit advantageous features of this cutting edge technology.
