New regulations for Miss Vietnam 2010 will be stricter than ever to make sure that only academically qualified contestants enter the competition, according to organizers.
All Vietnamese women living and working in the country who are between the ages of 18-27, single, without children and have at least a high school diploma, are eligible to take part in the contest.
All of the contestants qualifications, resumes, and ID cards of submitted to the pageant must now be notarized.
Participants who won prizes at local and international beauty contests and are given special priority to enter the Miss Vietnam 2010’s final round must send proof of those winnings directly to the organization and take part in anthropometric measurements.
The winner and runners-up of this year’s competition must donate 20 percent of their winning to support Quang Ninh Province’s charity fund or study encouragement funds and social activities.
The jury, not including members of the organizing board, will apply new marking technology.
In celebration of Hanoi’s 1,.000th birthday anniversary this year, the pageant will be themed “Vietnamese Women – A Thousand Years of Beauty.”
The short-list round and semifinal will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The final round will be held in Quang Ninh’s Ha Long City, at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, August 3-15, according to Tien Phong newspaper.
The winner of Miss Vietnam 2010 will receive a cash prize of VND500 million (US$25,000). The first and second runners-up will get VND200 million (US$10,000) and VND100 million (US$5,000).
The organizers will also award minor titles including Miss Talent, Miss Friendly, Miss Tourism Sea and Most likeable face.
After the success of the Miss Vietnam 2004 pageant, this is the second time the beauty contest is organized in the world heritage site.
