Vietnam Food Administration under the Ministry of Health yesterday sent its document to the Department of Health in Ho Chi Minh City and steering board of inter-department of food safety and hygiene, asking to verify individual's responsibility and impose penalties on those who are in charge of food safety in Vinh Loc A Commune in Binh Chanh District.
The Administration ordered them to write a report of acknowledgment and said that they must be fined for their neglectfulness in duty as a foodstuff manufacturing unit in the district had operated for long time and seriously violated food safety and hygiene regulation but it had not been discovered and shut down.
Before, an inter-department inspection team detected Nguyen Van Bao's manufacturing unit to severely violating the food safety and hygiene. Bao has manufactured beef balls, pork bologna, Chinese sausage, hot dog, and fish balls without certificates of food safety for half a year but no agency had supervised the manufacturer and fine him for violation.
On the same day, the Department of Food Safety also sent its document to the food safety bureau in HCMC and the southern province of Binh Duong, asking to verify the information that there is maggots in vegetarian food produced by Au Lac Foodstuff Company in District 12 which newspapers have reported lately.
Responsible agencies must issue harsh penalties on the violation and publicize on media
