Local party congresses elect new, young leaders

The congress, which saw the participation of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai and 153 party members, decided to increase vegetable and ornamental tree growing land in the district by 217 hectares and 10 hectares, respectively, while also adding 2,500 dairy cows to local farms.

Hai said that young officials at districts’ party committees in the city had been working like experienced veterans.

Delegates at the meeting decided that authorities would reserve 95 hectares of land for the Bau Tran Industrial Zone.

Other goals set at the meeting included the upgrading roads, reduction of the poverty rate by 5 percent and creating jobs for nearly 500 people a year.

Also on April 19, Long Binh Ward in District 9 elected 18 people to its Party Committee, including nine women and at least eight cadres under 30 years of age, for five-year terms.

Permanent Deputy Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee Nguyen Van Dua was in attendance at the Long Binh meeting.
