A grand ceremony celebrating the 590th anniversary of the Lam Son insurrection, the 580th anniversary of King Le Thai To’s enthronement and the 575th anniversary of the death of King Le Loi was held at Xuan Lam Commune in Thanh Hoa Province’s Tho Xuan District on Sunday.
The event honors important historical events including the battles of hero Le Loi, who defeated Chinese Ming invaders and brought independence to Viet people; the Lung Nhai Pledge; the Liberation of Dong Quan Citadel and his coronation with the title Le Thai To (founder of the Le dynasty). The show also commemorated General Le Lai, who sacrificed himself to save Le Loi, and introduced achievements of Thanh Hoa in the following period.
The ceremony is a major part of the Lam Kinh Festival 2008. The festival featured a worship ceremony for the kings of Le Dynasty and various cultural activities such as folk games. A photo exhibition of the province was held on September 19 to 20.
