IFC to open coffee-farmer training center in Vietnam

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, signed an agreement March 15 with coffee trader Atlantic Commodities Viet Nam Ltd., a subsidiary of ECOM Agro-industrial Corporation, to establish the first training center for Vietnamese coffee farmers.

The center will train farmers to meet international standards, improve the sustainability and productivity of crops, and increase their earnings.

The new facility targets to train 4,000 farmers within three years, and help them obtain coffee certifications like Utz, Rainforest, or 4C.

The center is part of a project to provide investment and advisory services to help ECOM Group, a global coffee trader, establish several farmer training centers.
