Late General Nguyen Chi Thanh’s statues inauguration ceremony and an offering flowers ceremony to mark the 100th birthday anniversary of General Nguyen Chi Thanh ( 1st January of 1914- 1st January of 2014) were organized in Quang Dien District of Thua Thien Hue province on the afternoon of December 30.
After the offering flowers ceremony, leaders of Thua Thien - Hue province carried out upgrade expansion project on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street worth up to VND 109.3 billion of investment capital with the aim to shortening the distance between the center of Quang Dien District and Hue City.
On the morning of December 30, Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of Defense and representatives of the late General’s family presented two stone statues and two bronze statues with the shape as the late General Nguyen Chi Thanh for General’s Memorial in Quang Dien District, Nguyen Chi Thanh Political School at Hue City and Nguyen Chi Thanh High School.
The General’s family gave VND 100 million for Study Encouragement Fund in Quang Tho and Scholarship Fund for Nguyen Chi Thanh High School.
On the occasion, Bank for Investment and Development Viet Nam also donated 20 computers for Quang Tho Primary School and Nguyen Chi Thanh High School.
The library and the Museum of History and Revolution of Thua Thien - Hue held a talking show about the life and revolutionary career of the late General Nguyen Chi Thanh, with the participation of over 100 invitation guest.
Ho Chi Minh Museum in Thua Thien - Hue province also kicked off thematic exhibition ‘General Nguyen Chi Thanh - an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh’.
The exhibition introduced more than 200 documentary photographs, artifacts, books, documents on late General Nguyen Chi Thanh.
The ceremony was attended by the former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of Defense and family of General.
