Nonstop heavy drizzles continued affecting flight schedules at many airports in the northern and central regions including Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on March 19, reported airlines.
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines said that it had to change the schedule of over 40 flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuot, Hue, Chu Lai, Siem Reap, Bangkok, Guangzhou, Kaohsiung and from HCMC to Hue, Da Nang and Jakarta.
Three flights departing from London, Paris and Frankfurt for Noi Bai had to land at Da Nang International Airport, it said.
Low cost airline VietJet Air also reported many flights’ slowdown due to the bad weather. One taking off from HCMC was forced to land at Da Nang instead of Phu Bai Airport in the neighboring province of Thua Thien-Hue as scheduled.
According to airlines, drizzles usually occur in the northern and central regions in March and April annually affecting their flight operations.
On March 18, thick fog held off all flights to and from Cat Bi Airport in Hai Phong city. Similar condition also occurred at Lien Khuong Airport in Da Lat and Phu Bai Airport in Hue.
