At a meeting presided over chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong on Thursday, Mr. Tuong said that District 1 and Cu Chi have obtained good changes but some other districts have seen road and pavement encroachment recur.
The city will establish an interagency inspection team to estimate the situation and propose the city People’ Committee to host a meeting to learn from experiences in street order restoration operations.
Districts well implementing the plan will be commended and rewarded while those not doing that seriously will be criticized, Mr. Tuong suggested.
Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong reaffirmed that the city will patiently solve street encroachment instead of doing that by movement and drastically handle local leaders for letting the issue recur.
Mr. Phong prompted relevant sides to take drastic and lawful actions to tackle the problem.
He said that road encroachment settlement was not purely clearing away all obstacles but reorganizing citizens’ life. The city's responsibility was to take care of instead of pushing residents into hard roads.
HCMC will continue meeting next month to re-estimate the entire situation, he revealed.
