Second Minister for Education of Singapore Indranee Rajah gave enthusiastic welcome to the proposal.
Sharing his concern about education with Minister Indranee Rajah, Party Chief Nguyen Thien Nhan expressed his happiness at the excellent relations between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy, defense, culture and education.
Regarding high school education, Mr. Nhan proposed training high-ranking managers for high schools to raise schools’ levels. When it comes to higher education, he suggested cooperation in some majors such as MBA, finance - banking, Information and communications technology, healthcare and tourism.
Additionally, he mentioned exchanging final-year students and promoting construction of laboratories in the field of artificial intelligence.
Education and training is a priority of Vietnam generally and HCMC particularly, said Mr. Nhan; however, higher education system in HCMC has not been internationally recognized and not many people working in science, technology achieved high quality as expected.
Furthermore, Vietnam’s higher education is facing challenges in the era of 4.0 industry because schools have not trained students in skills required by employers.
He believed that cooperation in education and training between HCMC and Singapore will bring lasting benefits because HCMC can improve its man power and Singapore will have human resource supply.
Second Minister Indranee Rajah warmly welcomed Party Chief Nhan’s proposal affirming to study it for a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on education and training.
She added that Singapore wishes to intensify education cooperation with Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam to help Singaporean students to have chance of study and cultural experiences.
On the same day, Mr. Nhan worked with high-ranking consultant Peter Ho from the Center for Strategic Futures - CSF.
