HCMC urges land clearance, handover for anti-flooding project

The People’s Committee of HCMC urged districts to complete site clearance and hand over the premise before June 30 for investors to implement the VND10 trillion (US$431 million) anti-flooding project on schedule.

According to an announcement from the Committee Office yesterday, deputy chairman of the city People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to urgently implement guidance by the committee to make sure the project progress.

The deputy chairman tasked Mr. Vo Trung Truc, deputy head of the Steering Board on Compensation, Assistance and Resettlement to organize weekly briefings to solve difficulties concerning site clearance and report to the city People’s Committee.  

He urged the Steering Center for Urban Flood Control Program to consider and affirm the done work volume of items which have been built, propose to the city People’s Committee solutions to clear difficulties according to regulations.

The People’s Committee Office will synthesize contents relating to the project and submit to the committee’s standing board to report to the city People’s Council for approval of policies to carry out the project.

The city’s Land Price Assessment Council should coordinate with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to continue assessing and approving land price coefficient adjustment to calculate compensation and resettlement levels. That aims to speed up compensation and resettlement progress to households with properties affected by the project and hand over the premise to investors according to regulations.
