The 1.71m high and 1.17m wide copper statute of Marquess Le Thanh Nguyen Huu Canh weighing 300 kilograms is put in the temple of the hero in the park.
The inauguration ceremony aims at celebrating the 320th founding anniversary of Saigon city-Ho Chi Minh City.
Attending the ceremony was city leaders including former Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong.
Marquess Le Thanh Nguyen Huu Canh is the hero credited with the country’s southward expansion and establish sovereignty in the area especially Saigon-Gia Dinh.
Many localities in the country such as Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Tien Giang and Dong Nai have built temples to dedicate him.
HCMC has built the temple to worship the high ranking general of Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu in 2016. The temple is a cultural historical relic site connecting with the memorial site of Hung Kings in the park.
Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong said that the statue is the bright icon of patriotism meaningful to education of the national tradition and igniting the national pride for generations of Vietnamese especially the youth.
