The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has decided to extend the validity period of bus-pass tickets, to encourage students to travel by public transport.

Any students who have bought tickets in May can use them for the entire year, while monthly bus tickets will be valid for one month only.
The bus ticket validity has been extended to December 31, 2011. The department plans to issue two kinds of bus tickets, yearly tickets for students at discount rates and another rate for normal passengers from June 2011.
For students, a set of 60 tickets will cost VND84, 000, while for normal passengers, a set of 30 tickets will cost VND90, 000 (each ticket worth VND4, 000) and a set of 30 tickets at VND112, 000 (each ticket worth VND5, 000).
